Structural 1 Sheathing panels are produced from Western Softwoods, and are especially designed for engineered applications such as structural components where design properties including tension, compression, shear, cross-panel flexural properties and nail holding and bearing are of significant importance. Shear walls constructed with Structural 1 rated sheathing can have up to 10% more allowable shear strength than rated sheathing with the same thickness and nailing pattern. Structural I is of no additional benefit for other traditional construction applications.
