FastenMaster ThruLOK is a multi-purpose structural wood-to-wood fastener that replaces carriage or through bolts. It is perfect for specific applications such as multiply beams, girder trusses, deck posts and many places where a traditional carriage or through-bolt is used. ThruLOK is used by professional contractors nationwide to meet code and lower costs when attaching deck posts.The ThruLOK screw includes a hex head drive system and a specially designed paddle point, which allows the fastener to cut through the densest lumber without splitting. The galvanized washer helps to evenly distribute the load, and the ThruLOK nut has specially designed teeth that allow it to grip the wood with no need for a wrench.To install ThruLOK, remove the pre-assembled nut from the screw and drive the ThruLOK screw and washer in to the outside face of the application until the screw is 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch from being flush. Then, thread the ThruLOK nut onto the exposed threaded end of the fastener. Firmly twist the nut by hand until snug, then finish driving the screw until tight.
