This stair part is inserted into a drilled hole on the bottom of a wood baluster, creating a "pin" to insert into a hole drilled into a step tread or landing tread. It prevents the need to "toe nail" balusters at the bottom, which creates unsightly and unprofessional nail holes at the bottom of a wood baluster. Designed to be used on balusters that do not have bottom pins, such as most full-square balusters or round dowels.
