## Description

This castle nut is designed as a locking type nut and is often used in conjunction with a cotter pin for locking bolts into place to prevent loosening and loss. The slots accommodate the cotter pin when used with a drilled shank fastener. The castle and slotted styles are interchangeable dependent on the desired design. Commonly used to attach wheels to spindles in low torque applications or applications where high vibration would otherwise cause the nut to back off of the mating fastener.
